THE BATTLE IS NOT OURS

THE BATTLE IS NOT OURS

In 2 Chronicles 20 we read that three armies are coming to invade King Jehoshaphat kingdom. Instead of trying to fight on his own he not only goes straight to the Lord but he calls all his people to seek the Lord‘s guidance. I’m not sure about you but I think that says a lot about King Jehoshaphat... it would be so easy to start listing request to the Lord but what we see here is King Jehoshaphat praise the Lord without requesting anything. Look at verse 12 when he prays, “ for we have no power to face vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do but our eyes are on you.” When you read on you see that the three armies destroyed each other which then left King Jehoshaphat’s men to collect all articles of value. God provided! The battle is not ours! It is inevitable that we will face obstacles at some point in our life. When faced with an obstacle we often ask ourselves what are we going to do. Let 2 Chronicles be a reminder that we should be seeking out the Lord and not asking ourselves what we would do. No matter what we are going through he will walk with us. When we go through trials we must turn ours eyes to him and we will hear him say “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s... you will not need to fight in this battle...”
